Thermostats without fiting, which are not protected by a junction box, work on the principle of liquid or gas expansion. A microswitch is used as an electrical cut-off device. They consist of a probe, also called a "bulb", containing the fluid and a capillary connecting the bulb to the thermostat junction box.
